Now, Webster's SCS certified recycled content bags and liners are also certified for EPP (Environmentally Preferable Product) claims. This certification, through SCS, is designed to demonstrate compliance with government procurement standards. The EPP claims are in accordance with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards which require that the recycled content product provide a significant and measurable environmental benefit over typical products in the same category. 

Based on Life Cycle Assesment (LCA) work conducted on polyethylene and comparing the impacts of virgin versus recycled material, it has been found that the use of recycled polyethylene significantly reduces overall environmental impacts, without any known tradeoffs.
